Neri Mani Aiyer is a native of the harsh desert realm of Simadeka. Not being suited, personally, to such extreme climate and having difficulty fitting in with the utilitarian nature of his hometown, he set of in search of somewhere that he could find his fortune, but more importantly, find his place in the world. After some wandering, he found himself in coalclaw, where he became the aesthetician/hair/tail/fur stylist of a certain well known brothel. This was actually one of my first attempts to introduce wildlife into the realms. In my opinion, the Realms is, in itself, a complex and developed ecosystem, with it's own pets, pests, beasts of burden, etc. And just like the races that walk the streets of coalclaw are familiar, but not quite human, I wanted the wildlife to have a similar sense of familiar alienness to them. This particular critter is a Kerret. They're lithe, curious little buggers with quick legs, that, with their tail and long body, move almost like a cross between a snake and a squirell. They're desert creatures, that burrow deep into the sand for water. This one is named Asima, and he's Neri's pet, and one of the only Simadekan things the boy kept during the long travel from his homeland.
