When he was but a toddler, Kusanagi’s parents were killed by the aragami known as Orochi. It then implanted seven of its eight mitamas within his body, with the intent of turning the then-human boy into a powerful bodyguard for the Kushinada, whose death would force the newly reawakened aragami into stasis once again.
However, while Kusanagi grew up to take on this task, he was not particularly fond of or loyal to his purported masters. Who he WAS fond of and loyal to was Kaede, the Kushinada, whom he grew up watching over from afar. When she disappeared, an enraged Kusanagi’s first reaction was to take revenge against the aragami by tracking down Kaede’s twin sister Momiji and kill her. Thankfully, when the time came, he proved unable to kill the innocent girl Momiji, partially because of her resemblence to Kaede. He then settled into protecting her as he had done for her sister, extremely grudgingly sharing this duty with the TAC, whom he neither particularly likes nor trusts after their failure to protect Kaede.
Kusanagi is a loud-mouthed, arrogant, somewhat perverted teenage hooligan. With superpowers. Quite a few superpowers, in fact: he is far stronger, faster, and tougher than humans, regenerates from even serious injuries over time, can elongate his limbs, and cause razor-sharp leaf-like blades to emerge from his forearms. As well, if pressed, he can transform into a more powerful and inhuman state, where all his abilities increase significantly and he may also fire beams of considerable destructive force.
