Now a student of Gedo High School, Gan was raised in the country on his family farm with his six younger siblings. It is unknown what exactly Gan did to get himself sent to a juvenile delinquent institution such as Gedo, but he really isn’t much of a bad sort. Gan is a boistrous but otherwise rather gentle giant. He was one of the people that worked with Daigo Kazama when Daigo united all the gangs of Gedo under his leadership. Gan, in fact, is one of Daigo’s trusting lietenants. Accordingly, he was one of the first people approached by Akira to help her find her missing brother.
Meeting Akira had a dramatic impact on Gan’s life, causing him to become more conscious of his brute strength and his manners. He also recognised the value of study, despite his mind not being terribly suited to intellectual pursuits, and he now tries very hard to keep up in his classes (often with Akira’s help). His major interests are sumo, and eating, especially rice balls, a food he adores so much that his nickname is “Dr. Onigiri”. Gan will participate in any eating contest he can find, and has never been known to lose. He also has a soft spot for children, and frequently babysits his younger siblings.
As a martial artist, Gan is a rock. His massive frame allows him to both absorb and dish out enormous amounts of punishment, which compensates for his relative lack of agility and speed. His style is patterned after sumo, and he is a true terror when enraged. Thankfully, this is a rare state.
